Pupils have been told to bring in a pack lunch today after the fire broke out in the canteen at the Brionne Gardens at around 4.30pm.
Nikki Colson, whose daughter Sophie, 12, attends the girls' school, said: "My daughter would have been home by the time the fire started."
The school notified her and other parents via text.
The message read: "Due to unforseen circumstances there will be no canteen facilities tomorrow. All students are requested to bring a pack lunch to the school."
A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: 'Fire crews were called to a fire in the roof space of a single-story building.
'The fire was quickly extinguished and crews remained on the scene cutting away and ventilating the smoke-logged roof void, as well as carrying out salvage operations.'
