Gas leak closes off village of Yalding

A gas leak closed off the village of Yalding on Tuesday afternoon.

Fumes were detected near the junction of Lees Road and Symonds Lane, with Kent Police arriving at about 5.30pm to close the area while engineers repaired the fault.

Road blocks were enforced between Gravelly Way and Hampstead Lane, and where Symonds Lane meets Benover Road.

The Highways Agency also attended. No evacuations were necessary.
