Historic royal crest to be reinstated?

MYSTERY still surrounds the whereabouts of an historic crest which was erected to mark Queen Victoria's stay in Tonbridge.
The regal arms of Queen Victoria's mother, Princess Marie Luise Victoria, commemorating the pair's frequent visits to the Rose and Crown Hotel, a 16 century coaching inn, has been missing from the porch for more than a year after it was taken down to be refurbished.
The Courier reported in October how Tonbridge Civic Society and local residents called for its return.
On Friday it seemed something might be stirring when a grey tarpaulin was draped on the porch where the crest once stood proud.
But hotel staff could not comment on exactly when the monument could be making its long awaited return.

Comments
The crest for a while was taken down and left around the back of the garden suite area of The Rose & Crown. Having looked at it close up, it was in need of extensive repairs. It would be great to see it back above the porch again.
