Maidstone United have signed winger Rory Hill from Tonbridge Angels, the Maidstone club has reported on its website.
The 22-year-old was released by the Angels last week in order to address some of the budget issues the club have been experiencing recently.
Speaking to This is Kent, Tonbridge boss Tommy Warrilow admitted it was a tough decision to release Hill.
"With Rory, all I can do is apologise," Warrilow said.
"We've been here before, it's part of the job I don't enjoy. Like anyone, if things pick up, I wouldn't rule out him coming back again. I'll be looking to get something sorted out for him."
Rory will join up with the Maidstone squad for tonight's Ryman Division One South match away at Corinthian-Casuals.
Stones boss Jay Saunders has been working hard in the past few weeks to strengthen the squad ahead of the final run-in.
"My priority has been to bring in another centre half. I've spoken to a couple of players, both at a higher level, but they decided not to drop down. I've got some other names to chase up this week as that's a key position in the squad.
"While on the outlook for new players, Rory was recommended to me. He's an excellent winger and was unfortunate to be released from Tonbridge.
"It was one of the opportunities you have to grab when they come along. Since Warren Whitely's loan ended, we've kept an eye on filling that position."
