Police are looking for a dark-coloured 4x4 vehicle they believe may have been used in a series of burglaries and thefts in the Edenbridge area overnight on Monday 21 January.

Kent Police were called to four burglaries and a theft between 6pm and 10am. A further incident of criminal damage was discovered at 8:35am on Tuesday.

Three burglaries were reported in Pootings Road in Crockham Hill, plus one in Wilderness Lane in Markbeech. Items taken included five chainsaws, a hedge trimmer and horse-riding equipment.

The theft of around £10 in cash from vehicles, as well as an electric charger worth £80, was reported in Mill Lane in Chiddingstone while the report of criminal damage came after a fence was damaged in Pootings Road.

PC Richard Wilson said: "We think the incidents are linked, and that a dark-coloured 4x4 was used.

"We have recovered CCTV from the area which we hope to able to enhance to identify an index number."

Officers have also visited the area to offer crime prevention advice.

PC Wilson added: "Some of the properties and vehicles which were targeted were not secured. We all get complacent sometimes but it is important to remember there are a few bad people out there and we can't make it easy for them."

Anyone with any information about these incidents can call PC Wilson on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
