Trains on Southeastern routes are more punctual than ever before according to new figures - but critics say the statitics have been skewed.

Results released by Network Rail showed that 94% of trains were on time between July 22 and August 18, beating the national average.

The figures also showed a 0.6% improvement compared to the same period last year, making Southeastern the fifth best operator in the country.

'On time' is measured as trains arriving within five minutes of their planned destination arrival time.

But critics of Southeastern have claimed the figures do not reflect the punctuality of trains as high speed services are included in the statistics.
