Tonbridge residents will know there's been a funny smell in the air today - with the town reeking of marshmallows, strawberries and caramel.

Tonbridge residents will know there's been a funny smell in the air today - with the town reeking of marshmallows, strawberries and caramel.
Many have taken to Twitter to ask what it is, and where it's coming from.
And we can tell you that the source is the Drytec factory in Morley Road, where detergent perfumes are manufactured.
It's been the source of many complaints in the past, and Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council has investigated the sweet-smelling stench on several occasions.

I've also noticed the smell of marshmallows from the train station. I do apologise that was me I had a marshmallow curry the night before I did my commute to London which smells constantly of gold and paper money

ReportI like the smell of strawberries, marshmallow and caramel. I would rather have that than the smell of our own faeces from the sewerage farm. Coz we all emit that smell whether gas, liquid or solid! Although mine smells of marshmallow!

ReportIs not just Drytec, the Sewage works also use masking smells, to save us from the smell of raw sewage. When i used to work their(many years back) they put a lot of effort into eliminating any oudours. Other than that, they were always a good local employer who put a lot of effort into treating the staff well.

ReportDrytec,detergent perfumes are manufactured,they also have a food flavouring department on site, plus a test plant.
