Aspiring cricketers can brush up on their skills at a range of seedling and junior cricket coaching courses this October.
Young people aged between five and 17 who want to be the next Alistair Cook or who just want to try something new, are invited to attend the ten-week courses which are held at The Judd School in Tonbridge, from Saturday 6 October.
The courses, which are organised by the Tonbridge and Malling District Cricket Partnership, are split into different age-groups and will run throughout the autumn and winter.
There are two Seedling Courses being run, one for children under seven and another for children aged between seven and nine. These hour-long courses cost £40 per child and begin at 1pm for the Under 7's and 2pm for the Over 7's.
There will be two junior courses, one for children under 12 and the other for children over 12. These cost £65 per person. The Under 12's course will run from 1pm to 2.30pm and the Over 12's from 2.30pm to 4pm. A discount of 25 per cent is available on all cricket courses for Leisure Pass holders.
At the end of the course, the young cricketers will get the opportunity to earn themselves a place in the Tonbridge and Malling District Cricket Squad at the trials being held on Saturday 8 December. The trials are open to all players, not just those attending the 10 week course.
A further series of 10 week courses will then take place in the New Year, beginning on 12 January 2013.
Beverley Emmerson, Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council's Sports Development Officer, said: "These courses are great for any child wanting to try their hand at cricket or improve their skills in a fun and informal atmosphere. The courses not only promote healthy living but they are also a great way for youngsters to make new friends and build confidence."
The classes are open to children of all ages and abilities. Parents are welcome to stay and watch the coaching sessions.
