Warrilow wants team to kick on

WHILE it wasn't quite samba football that Tonbridge Angels produced in their 5-1 win over Eastbourne, the Longmead supporters can't help but have been impressed with the style in which Tommy Warrilow's side played on the day, writes Jon Harvey.
Eastbourne couldn't live with the attacking panache Angels displayed and Warrilow is hoping the performance is a sign of things to come from his side in the remaining months of the season.
Angels have a weekend off from league matters, but host Dartford on Tuesday evening, kick-off 7.45pm, in a Kent Senior Cup quarter-final and Warrilow is taking the competition seriously, with the winner hosting Charlton in the semi-final.
"Hopefully, there will be a big crowd down there on Tuesday," Warrilow said. "We had a fantastic crowd for the Eastbourne match and it does help the team if we have a good crowd. With the winner hosting Charlton in the semi-final, it's another opportunity for us to get a big crowd, which would help in terms of money for the club as January has been quiet in terms of matches.
"Saturday's performance is the yardstick for the boys – to say I was delighted with some of our attacking play is an understatement. We know there is still work to do, we have got to be more patient at times, but overall, I can't fault much about Saturday."
The weekend off comes at probably the right time in terms of Angels attempting to get their walking wounded treated. Mikel Suarez is hoping to be back from his ankle injury in two or three weeks, Jon Heath is struggling with a knee injury, although Jon Main is expected back in the next fortnight.
One player who won't be appearing for Angels any more is winger Chris Henry, who has been released.
"We have kept Chris' registration and I do feel for him – when he first came here, he couldn't play for us (due to an admin error)," Warrilow said. "This year, he has been on the bench more than he would have liked and has been an impact player for me really. He has an opportunity to get more games elsewhere so we have released him."
Tuesday's match will have a reduced admission price as the club bids to entice supporters down to the Longmead. Adults will be charged £8, concessions £4 and children under 12 accompanied by an adult will gain admission free of charge.
