Kent Police is on a drive to recruit more special constables this year. Do you know someone who could take on such a rewarding and fulfilling role? Or do you fancy it yourself?

If you, or a friend or family member is interested in finding out more why not go along to a Special Constabulary recruitment event at Tonbridge Police Station at 12.30pm on Saturday 12 February.

PC Liza Hall, Specials Co-ordinator for West Kent, will give a presentation about the work of the Special Constabulary, and there will be a chance to meet and talk to existing Special Constables about their experiences. To book a place call PC Hall on 07989 992248.

Specials are ‘ordinary people doing extraordinary work' - individuals who volunteer to work alongside police officers and PCSOs to help protect and serve the people of Kent. They have full police powers, uniforms and equipment and perform an invaluable role in the local communities - whether they are providing visible patrols at public events, dealing with public order offences, or helping officers to carry out speed checks.

Kent Police want to hear from you if you:

  • Are 18 years old or over
  • Meet the required medical and fitness standards
  • Are willing to give a minimum of 16 hours per month
  • Can commit to the training requirements
