Hi all, we've just moved into Tonbridge and was just wondering if there's anywhere/anything you recommend we see/do?
We're a young(ish) couple (29 and 27) with a baby on the way (so unfortunately nothing TOO energetic please) and we'd like to know what's worth seeing and doing in Tonbridge :)

Tonbridge Castle is lovely (but best in summer) - Angel Centre is worth joining if you want to keep fit - Penshurst Place... Groombridge also nice days out.

For shops / cinema etc there's a great out of town place nearby called Knights Park.

The Ivy on the High St is lovely to eat.

    Welcome! Where are you from?

    Thank you for the reply!
Tonbridge Castle is definitely on my list, always loved castles and we are just across the park from it :)
Angel Centre, will defiinitely check that place out, though I think I'm going to try to use the park to keep fit, and my partner will struggle with excersise at least until after the baby is born!
Knights Park sounds like it's worth a visit, we love how small Tonbridge town centre is, but that does mean certain shops and a cinema etc are lacking!
Not seen The Ivy yet, what kind of food do they do?

I'm originally from Manchester but have been living in London the past year. My partner is from Caterham but again she was in London for a few years :)

I agree with Ginny - and welcome. The Ivy House is at the top of the high street (keep going until the lights to turn right as if you are heading to Hadlow). They do fantastic beef on a Sunday, great burgers, a fantastic prawn curry, scampi, steaks, Kentish ploughmans etc - I guess you'd describe it a a pub menu with a very posh twist.

Tonbridge is a really lovely place to live and I think you are very wise to use the park for exercise. In the summer there are boot camp classes in the park and buggy workouts for when the baby has arrived. Contact is telephone; 07539232280 or via email; christie@essential-fitness.co.uk for boot camp and for buggy workout have a look at this: http://tinyurl.com/2evlsup

Enjoy Tonbridge and feel free to ask away if you need any more info.

    When is your baby due?

Thank you, we do feel welcome! Even on the day we moved in we had passers-by saying hello, you wouldn't get that in London!
I think we definitely have to try out The Ivy House, sounds perfect for how I like to eat! :D
The boot camp and buggy classes sound perfect too, we will definitely look into those once the nicer weather comes around.
And thank you, the baby is due mid April :)

Hi, There are a few things i would recommend, firstly the chaser inn in shipbourne, superb food with log fires and a friendly atmosphere, secondly the creche at the Angel centre, great staff who will look after you baby while you work out, ofsted registered, and finally Musical Bumps at the church at the top of the high street, Margaret run it for new borns upwards, the class is brilliant and a great way to meet new mums. Hope this helps.

The Chaser is definitely a good idea - gorgeous food, always, in my experience.
