Please look after garden birds this winter. Here's some helpful info from KCC:

Our gardens are always an important refuge for wildlife and in the recent bad weather the food we leave out can be a real life saver for garden birds.
Small birds such as blue **** are particularly at risk, as their size means they use up immense fat reserves just to survive the long winter nights. But there are lots of things you can do to help.
In freezing conditions, the supply of more food, particularly fatty food is very important. Seed and nuts in mesh feeders are a good food source year round, but fat is what many birds need just to survive.
Kitchen scraps need not go to waste either. Items that will help the birds include cooked rice, pasta and the insides of cooked potatoes.
A water bowl is another essential; year round this is important for drinking and for bathing. In the winter this will help birds keep their feathers in good condition and insulated from the cold.
More information on feeding the birds in winter is available from the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.
Keep an eye out - you never know what new species may visit your garden!
Throughout the year the Kent’s Wildlife 2010 campaign has been highlighting Kent’s wildlife every month and encouraging residents to report what they have seen. To find out more visit http://tinyurl.com/37ddkd2

Has anyone noticed the bright lights installed by Network Rail at the end of the line, they are on all the time whether required or not! They claim to be environmentally friendly but we dont seem to see this!! The lights shine straight into our home all night and disturb us all - we have contacted the Environmental agency but they have not helped - any ideas?
