Edenbridge Bonfire Society - Saturday 3rd November
http://tinyurl.com/8hkwdgb
At the head of the Procession the Bishop of Bonfire presides over his choirboys, closely followed by the Bonfire Society's effigies, the infamous traitor Guy Fawkes accompanied by poor Anne Boleyn with her head tucked underneath her arm!).
Some 2,000 torches illuminate elaborate tableaux and bands. As well as some of the loudest and most spectacular fireworks in the country, you will see Britain's largest free-standing effigy of the man who started it all, Guy Fawkes and (as a much newer tradition) you will also see a Celebrity Guy, a newsworthy national or international figure.
Both effigies stand around 30ft in height and will cunningly self-destruct in a series of spectacular explosions!
When and where the procession goes:
The thousands of people who attend each year begin to gather in the town before the local roads are closed at around 6.00pm
A band plays in the High Street from around 6.15pm
The procession starts in Fircroft Way at around 6.30pm
The procession travels the whole length of the town, circles at the South end and then returns to the top of the High Street
Townsfolk and members of the parade then make their way to the display site on Lingfield Road recreation ground
The grand firework display starts in the field at around 8.30pm (ish!)
