We were actually on an ill-fated trip to the excellent Swan on the Green in West Peckham only to find it closed for a private function (boo! hiss!) and had to find somewhere quickly as our toddler was getting hungry. Shipbourne itself is a lovely village, and we parked right next to the common, a beautiful sight on a sunny day. The Chaser has plenty of space, although it's obviously very popular as the majority of tables were either occupied or reserved. The service was excellent, attentive and polite. I had a fantastic mixed ploughman's, my husband had a big bowl of moule mariniere (starter size but ample for lunch) with skinny fries and chunky bread slices. My toddler had chips, bread and bits and pieces from my ploughman's and everything was delicious and came in hearty portions. The food plus two rounds of (non-alcoholic) drinks came in at just over £30, which was good value for a country pub around here.
