Jack Holden, 20 from Tonbridge in Kent is aiming to raise a lot of money for anti-poverty charity ActionAid by going on a trek up to the Isle of Skye without paying a penny. Jack wants the money he collects to go to a sponsored child in Burundi and of course to help the people of Pakistan.

Jack Holden from Tonbridge and his ActionAid charity fund-raising pal Harry Livingstone
Jack and his pal Harry Livingstone, both students at the Old Vic theatre in Bristol, set out yesterday to travel from Bristol to the Isle of Skye by any means possible. They will be hitch-hiking and are 'guestimating' that it'll take them about a day to reach Gordano Services (that's really close). And then, that's when their magical mystery tour really starts!
Once they reach the Isle, they'll hike down to the Southern-most point, the Point of Sleat. From there they'll set off on a wild and gruelling hike via the Black Cuillin, the rockiest mountain range in the UK, through the boggy, undulating terrain of the island to the Northern most point - the point of Trotternish.
This hike will take them around a week and once they've reached the top of the island they've got to get back to Bristol... once again by hitch-hiking!
Jack hopes this extraordinary fundraising event will raise over £2000 for ActionAid. ActionAid have projects all over the world. To put this into perspective, £20 could provide eight children with access to safe clean water Uganda, where children often have to walk for at least an hour to collect water which is dirty, contaminated and frequently makes them ill.
So if Jack and Harry hike over 100 miles and raise £2000, they can help 800 children get access to the most basic need -- safe drinking water. The Skye really is the limit!
