Tonbridge Angels player Mikel Suarez has left the intensive care unit and has been 'laughing and joking', the club has said.

The player sustained a serious head injury during a game at Farnborough on October 13 after clashing heads team-mate Lee Browning during the second-half of the 4-1 defeat.

He initially walked off the field of play, but was taken to hospital and had remained under observation since, and an induced coma, since.

But the club reports he is now out of danger and came out of the ICU on Monday evening. A statement said: 'He tires quickly at the moment but has been laughing and joking.'

Messages of support have appeared on Twitter from fans, fellow players and from across the non-league scene.
